Sock Donner

The primary goal of occupational therapy is to ENABLE people to PARTICIPATE in activities of daily life. Here at TADQ we achieve this through out-of-the-box creative solutions that enhance our client’s ability. Our latest creative solution – a wooden SOCK DONNER – was designed for a lady who had a stroke with resulting hemiplegia. Her OT goal was to be able to apply her socks faster and with increased independence, despite her limitations with reach and reduced motor control in her right foot. Commercially available sock donners were no use as our client could not lift or dorsiflex her foot. To provide adequate support for our client’s foot, the TADQ sock donner features a small slopeboard with an adjustable angle and a ledge to pop her ankle on. In a seated position she is then able to apply the base of the sock over her toes. As our client likes to travel, the sock donner is also collapsible and easily transportable. Awesome handywork Alan, as always
